Zeekr 007 Touring electric estate in the works

Chinese automaker Zeekr is looking to release an estate variant of its 007 sedan. The new variant is to offer more space for passengers and luggage, however, no release date is on the horizon at this point.

There is a new rumour, based on supply chain information, going on in the Chinese media that Zeekr plans to launch a ‘007 Touring,’ an electric estate derived from the 007 sedan. Codenamed ‘Polar Krypton CC1E,’ the 007 Touring features a design very similar to the base model, with visual differences apparent only from behind the B-pillar.

Thanks to a longer and flatter roofline, the Zeekr 007 Touring will offer a big cargo area behind the seats, allowing drivers to haul extra luggage, while outdoorsy families could find the Zeekr 007 useful to transport sporting gear, like a snowboard, for instance.

The Zeekr 007 sedan is an affordable alternative to the Nio ET5 and slightly cheaper than the Tesla Model 3. Zeekr is yet to confirm if it plans to launch the 007 sedan in Europe, but considering its positioning, it seems likely that the company will release it in the region at some point. The rumoured Zeekr 007 Touring has an even stronger chance because of the high popularity of its body style. For example, in Germany, which is Škoda’s largest market globally, more than 90% of all Superb sales in the third generation came from the estate version, or ‘Kombi’, as it is known there.

Zeekr may offer the 007 Touring with the same battery (75 kWh LFP and 100 kWh NMC) and powertrain options (310 kW/440 Nm single-motor and 475 kW/710 Nm dual-motor) as the 007 sedan. As seen in the Nio ET5 Touring and Nio ET5’s case, the estate’s CLTC range may have an approximately 5% lower CLTC range, of up to around 650 km (007 sedan: up to 688 km).

With no test mules spotted on the roads so far, it seems the Zeekr 007 Touring is still in the early stages of development. Zeekr has already revealed the Mix MPV and is testing an electric crossover codenamed ‘CX1E,’ so it may launch those models first. This would also give it enough time to expand the availability of the 007 sedan internationally.
