VinFast brings Bosch on board as charging partner for Europe

The collaboration with Bosch will give VinFast customers access to a network of 700,000 charging points in 30 European countries. VinFast has already had a charging infrastructure partnership with Bosch in North America for two years.

Building on the US partnership, VinFast and Bosch now also want to work together in Europe in the area of charging infrastructure. This should give customers of the Vietnamese manufacturer the security of being able to “travel across the continent with easy access to a large network of compatible charging stations”, according to an accompanying press release.

VinFast has been preparing the market launch of its electric vehicles in Europe for some time. With this in mind, the company recently appointed the workshop and accessories specialist Mobivia as its service partner for Germany and France. This step is also intended to create trust in the new brand.

The cooperation with Bosch aims to enable VinFast drivers to locate charging stations, start the charging process and pay via the company’s app or directly via the vehicle’s infotainment system. They will also have access to “a more comprehensive customer support system from both VinFast and Bosch”.

According to Le Thi Thu Trang, CEO of VinFast Europe, the partnership with Bosch ensures that customers benefit from a reliable and comprehensive network. “We continue to prioritize our customer’s needs, and this collaboration aligns perfectly with that philosophy.

Martin Knoss, Vice President Bosch ASEAN, added: “The majority of electric vehicle drivers rely on public charging infrastructure. Recognizing this need, Bosch has continuously expanded its global network, increasing it by sixfold since 2020. This partnership enables us to accommodate VinFast customers throughout Europe, where we anticipate having a total of 850,000 charging ports by the end of 2024, while also supporting their global expansion endeavors.”

VinFast has already postponed the start of deliveries in Europe several times and most recently stated the fourth quarter of 2023 as the target. However, the company has not yet announced that it has been finalised. VinFast officially began exporting its EV at the end of 2022 – with an initial batch of 999 VF 8s that were shipped to the USA. VinFast’s upcoming expansion to Europe is part of a global growth plan that includes the construction of new factories in the United States, India and Indonesia.

VinFast, which is part of the Vietnamese conglomerate Vingroup, was founded in 2017 and began producing electric vehicles in 2021. Previously, it also produced cars with combustion engines.
