RheinEnergie becomes a strategic investor in The Mobility House

The Mobility House, a Munich-based specialist for vehicle-grid integration, has gained German energy supplier RheinEnergie as a strategic investor. The new partnership supports RheinEnergie's goal of providing a sustainable energy supply by 2035 through the integration of vehicle batteries into the grid.

The two companies did not disclose the size of the investment – preferring to emphasise the importance of the partnership: “This strategic alliance is an important building block for us, especially for our customers. With The Mobility House by our side, we gain expertise and significantly expand our scope, particularly in digital and interconnected services related to real estate and mobility”, says Andreas Feicht, Chairman of the Board of RheinEnergie.

Thomas Raffeiner, CEO of The Mobility House, adds: “We are pleased to welcome RheinEnergie as an investor and partner. Together, we can accelerate the realization of our vision of ‘zero zero’, charging electric cars for free and emission-free, making it more accessible to a wider audience.”

As part of the collaboration, RheinEnergie will offer an electricity tariff for the private sector this year that will reduce charging costs by three-digit amounts per year. The Mobility House will supply the technology components, while RheinEnergie will continue to be the direct contractual partner as a trusted energy supplier.

The Mobility House describes itself as a leading provider of smart charging and energy solutions and a pioneer in the field of Vehicle to Grid (V2G). In January, The Mobility House won former VW CEO Herbert Diess as Chairman of the Board of Directors. The charging and energy management system ChargePilot, developed by The Mobility House, is now used to intelligently charge at over 1,700 locations.

Based on its own technology, the company trades over 4,500 stationary 1st and 2nd life car batteries on the European power and energy markets with more than 100 megawatts of power. The technology portfolio is also the basis for the eyond car electricity tariff launched at the end of last year. Thanks to eyond, EV drivers can reduce their charging costs by up to 400 euros per year through the flexible charging of their electric car battery.
