Nikola starts ramping up hydrogen truck sales over Q1
The delivery numbers are particularly notable, as they are higher in the first quarter than the number that Nikola Motor delivered over the whole year of 2023. Even more impressively, this was after the former CEO Trevor Milton was sentenced to jail time in the USA. In addition to revealing its production and delivery numbers, the Nikola team also commenced the return process for the BEV “2.0” trucks to customers. Nikola will report its Q1 financial results and business updates on May 7 via a conference call and webcast.
“We are on track for a successful 2024 by continuing the momentum set in 2023,” said Nikola CEO Steve Girsky. “It’s about more than just setting goals. It’s about following through on our commitments. This includes not only the production and sale of our hydrogen fuel cell electric trucks but also the start of returns for our battery-electric trucks to customers.”
The results are not necessarily final, however, as Nikola notes at the bottom of its press release: “Nikola has not completed its quarterly review process or the preparation of its financial statements for the first quarter ended March 31, 2024. Nikola will announce information regarding Q1 2024 financial results soon.”
Nikola has been busy ramping up an entire hydrogen ecosystem in the US, having opened a hydrogen refuelling station in California in February, as well as announcing another major customer in March.
