Ebusco to deliver 15 electric buses for Rouen
Ebusco has received the new order for the Rouen metropolitan region via the public purchasing union UGAP (Union des Groupements d’Achats Publics) and will increase the total number of Ebusco electric buses on the streets of Rouen to over 100, according to the Dutch manufacturer. Regarding the 15 newly ordered articulated electric buses, Ebusco states that they will be equipped with four double doors and a battery pack with a capacity of more than 500 kWh. This should enable them to “operate easily on the steep roads and serve the expected high number of passengers on their assigned routes in Rouen”.
Specifically, the new electric buses will be used on the city’s TEOR express bus routes. TEOR stands for ‘Transport Est-Ouest Rouennais’, which translates as Rouen East-West Transport. The service was inaugurated in February 2001 as the second express bus system in France. Thanks to the large batteries, the Ebusco 3.0 should be able to complete the daily service without intermediate charging. Charging will therefore only take place at night in the depot.
The newly ordered vehicles will complement the existing four Ebusco 2.2 electric buses and the 85 Ebusco 3.0 electric buses already expected in the city. With the new order, more than 100 Ebusco electric buses will be deployed in and around Rouen in the future, including both 12 and 18-metre models.
Incidentally, these 15 newly ordered buses will be manufactured at the production facility in Cléon. In mid-2022, Ebusco announced that it also intended to build electric buses in France from 2023. To this end, the Dutch company has rented space at the Renault plant in Cléon.
Jean-Francois Chiron, Managing Director of Ebusco France Sales, comments: “We are really delighted to continue our partnership with Metropole Rouen Normandie in their strategy of decarbonisation of their urban transport and it is great to see that the second order is placed through the UGAP purchasing group. With our production facility in Cléon, we can provide innovative, zero-emission buses with local content.”
