Ford unveils 2024 Mustang Mach-E
Ford’s newest Mustang Mach-E lineup includes four models ranging from the ‘Select’, to the ‘Premium’, ‘GT’ and, finally, ‘Rally’ as the range-topping model. Interestingly, the range has increased most for the two basic models, now standing at 250 and 320 miles, respectively, under the EPA estimate. This marks a 20-mile improvement from last year’s variant. The ‘GT’ can go for up to 280 miles, marking only a 10-mile improvement, while the ‘Rally’ variant remains at 265 miles range. The ‘GT’ variant also can be upgraded with the ‘Performance Upgrade’, which comes as standard for the ‘Rally’ variant and can be installed at purchase or enabled at a later date.
The charging improvement is explained as being around 20 per cent better, with the extended battery now only taking 36 minutes to charge from 10 to 80 per cent SoC. That is nearly a 9-minute improvement from the previous version.
In terms of acceleration, the 0-60 miles per hour acceleration has been improved by half a second, which Ford wastes no time in comparing to the competition: “0-60 mph in 3.3 seconds, it is faster than both the Tesla Model Y Performance and the Porsche Macan 4 Electric. It cracks the quarter mile in 11.8 seconds at 114 mph.”
Prices start at $39,995 for the standard-range battery, rear-wheel drive ‘Select’ variant, and rise to $46,995 for the extended-range battery, but this is only available from the ‘Premium’ trim. Prices top out at $59,995 for the extended-range battery and all-wheel drive on the ‘Rally’.
