JLR launches recruitment drive for UK sites
The recruitment drive includes 40 battery technology positions and various other drive development jobs. Specifically, employees are being sought for advanced energy storage systems, battery cell design, cell stack assemblies, as well as hardware and software positions, all working towards JLR’s “next generation vehicle architectures.” JLR also writes that there are other roles available in “propulsion, including propulsion software, calibration and controls, HV system integration, electrical system component design and more.”
“The realisation of our Reimagine strategy is dependent on our investment in people and technology,” said Thomas Mueller, JLR Executive Director of Product Engineering, adding: “As we continue to invest in our facilities, we are now seeking very talented people to help us develop advancements in propulsion technology that will underpin our next generation modern luxury vehicles.”
In Gaydon, JLR operates an Engineering Centre and the company’s £250m Future Energy Lab in Whitley, Coventry, develops and tests batteries and Electric Drive Units.
“We are ramping up our work, converting cutting-edge science into battery propulsion systems that offer our clients unique driving and charging experiences, expected of modern luxury vehicles. This is an exciting opportunity for battery chemistry experts to help define the next generation of electrical powertrains,” added Freddy Gunnarsson, JLR Cell Design Manager.
JLR also recently announced intentions to ramp up vehicle production together with parent company Tata in India. Additionally, the company also recently benefitted from a UK grant for e-mobility projects. In February, JLR had announced that it would back off some of its EV production plans.
