SMEG adds 300 EVBox charging stations to its fast-charging network in France
According to a statement from EVBox, the 300 Dutch-made devices will be installed at more than 100 commercial locations in France. They will be part of the EVzen charging network operated by SMEG. SMEG stands for Société Monégasque de l’Electricité et du Gaz (translated: Monegasque Electricity and Gas Company). The company, which is part of the Engie Group, has its roots in Monaco but is now also active throughout France with a workforce of 155 employees. Within the energy company, the EVzen unit focuses on electric car charging business.
EVBox will supply the EVBox Troniq Modular charging station for SMEG. The collaboration between the two sides began in 2019 with the provision of “BusinessLine” charging stations for business applications in Monaco. SMEG then set up its own public EVzen fast charging network in the south of France “largely based on EVBox hardware” in the summer of 2021. The network currently comprises around 150 fast-charging points.
“SMEG’s DNA is reliability and customer focus. We wanted to further strengthen our partnership with EVBox, in whom we have complete confidence and with whom we are working hand in hand to massively deploy fast charging throughout France,” says Anthony Dupont, Director for Electric Mobility at SMEG
“Our strong collaboration with SMEG over the years has met the various needs of EV drivers a-like, from first installing commercial EV charging, to now public fast charging infrastructure,” says Amélie Trégouet, France Regional Director at EVBox. “With our extensive portfolio, we are committed to supplying EV charging solutions tailored to each business’s needs.”
