Dutch charging infrastructure provider Leap24 is cooperating with the storage space rental company Shurgard Self-Storage to equip around 70 Shurgard locations in the UK and the Netherlands with fast chargers for electric vehicles.

46 of these are located in the Netherlands, and 24 are in and around London, according to Leap24. One 240 kW charging station with two connections will be installed at each location. Construction will begin this year in London. The charging points will be publicly accessible, so not just for Shurgard customers.

Shurgard will provide the locations, while Leap24 will be responsible for the fast-charging stations’ design, installation and maintenance. “The collaboration between Shurgard and LEAP24 provides a unique boost to the realisation of emission-free mobility hubs,” says Pelle Schlichting, Founder of Leap24

Founded in 2021, Leap24 is building a network of ultra-fast charging stations in the Netherlands, the UK and Germany. These locations will support companies in handling their transport and logistics with electric vehicles. In 2022, Leap24 announced around 240 fast charging stations for commercial vehicles.

In this context, Leap24 also sees the charging stations at Shurgard as a strategic step towards meeting the growing demand for sustainable mobility and logistics in these large urban areas. “Flexible storage spaces combined with ultra-fast charging stations are the ideal solution for more sustainable urban logistics and last-mile deliveries,” the company says.
