Gravity opens charge park with 500 kW chargers in New York City
The charging stations are mounted to the ceiling, meaning that they fit the original layout of the parking structure and do not require any additional space. Moreover, Gravity points out that “utility upgrades were made to the building or surrounding grid—making this installation easily replicable at any parking site across the country.”
The startup lists additional plus points of its charging centre in its press release. According to the company, the chargers are available 24/7 with extended parking available in the adjacent parking facility. Moreover, Gravity plans to install additional chargers “at the site soon, so drivers never have to wait for open equipment.”
The 500kW Distributed Energy Access Points (DEAPs) are bidirectional-ready and accept tap-and-go payment as well as plug-and-charge “with auto authentication for all vehicle types and no interface required.” But most importantly, the system is “90-times faster than comparably-sized “Level 2″ chargers deployed in most garages.”
“Automakers love to tout their EVs’ top driving speed, but what matters more than anything for drivers is how fast a car can charge,” says Moshe Cohen, CEO of Gravity Inc. “Our technology that can provide a car with 40 miles of range in just a minute of charging. With these speeds, we can push the entire industry to vehicles with faster-charging batteries.”
