Powerdot secures €100 mn to expand in Europe
Today’s statement contained an update with Powerdot claiming “exceptional growth” in 2023, marked by a 201% increase in operational charging points and a 218% rise in kWh consumption.
Powerdot currently has 5,000 active charging points at 1,300 locations in Portugal, France and Spain and plans to expand to almost 10,000 at 1,400 locations.
Existing investors Antin Infrastructure Partners and Arié Group led the capital increase. Aside from expanding, Powerdot also wants to drive technological advancements and strengthen partnerships to enhance the EV user experience.
Commenting on today’s capital injection, Luís Santiago Pinto, CEO of Powerdot, said, “With over 5,000 charging points in operation and an additional 10,000 in deployment, this investment will catalyze transformative growth, enabling us to expand our network and contribute to the evolution of sustainable mobility.”
Anand Jagannathan, Antin NextGen partner, added that Antin was “committed to Powerdot’s continued growth”.
David Arié, a Board Member at Arié Group, stressed, “The strong operational focus of the Powerdot team and the tremendous growth in 2023 led us to double down on our commitment. We proudly continue to support the growth of the Powerdot project for sustainable mobility.”
In its home market of Portugal, Powerdot has over 1,300 charging points. It has a robust presence in France with over 3,700 operational charging points, experiencing a 500% year-on-year growth in kWh consumption. In Spain, Powerdot activated over 300 charging points in 2023, signalling significant progress in market penetration, which started with utility Galp. Furthermore, Powerdot is expanding its presence in Belgium and Poland with strategic partnerships and deployment plans. In Poland, for example, Powerdot works with Ekoenergytyka, which also acts as a supplier to the company’s other markets.
