Swiss electric scooter Microlino gets L6e variant

The Swiss company Micro Mobility Systems is presenting the Microlino Lite, an L6e version of its electric cabin scooter. Available in two colour variants, the mini electric scooter is now available to order. The sales launch is scheduled for early summer.

The Swiss manufacturer presented the Microlino Lite as a concept one and a half years ago. Micro Mobility Systems is now presenting the series version of the lightweight vehicle at the Geneva Motor Show. Like all vehicles in the L6e class, the tiny electric vehicle can be driven with a moped licence. In Germany, this means that even 15-year-olds can get behind the wheel of the Microlino Lite.

Against this background, an L6e vehicle must not weigh more than 425 kilograms (without battery), may have a maximum power output of 6 kW and may not travel faster than 45 kph. As the standard Microlino cabin scooter from Micro Mobility Systems, which will be launched in Germany in 2023, only weighs 435 kilograms as a representative of the L7e class anyway, the step to the L6e variant was not that big. It now weighs 420 kilograms and only travels at 45 kph instead of up to 90 kph. According to the manufacturer, the edition of the new “little brother” is limited. The entry-level price is 149 Swiss francs per month (around 156 euros), they say. A classic purchase price is not specified. Like all electric scooters from the Swiss company, the Microlino Lite is built in Turin, Italy.

By making a classic driving licence obsolete, the Microlino Lite is primarily intended to appeal to a broader population who “want to get around protected from the weather and with plenty of bella figura”, as stated in an accompanying press release. In contrast to the standard Microlino with a 12.5 kW motor, the Lite version will have a weaker 6 kW unit in accordance with the regulations of the vehicle class. The battery is to be designed in such a way that the range matches that of its big brother. However, it does not have the 10.5 kWh battery of the Microlino for up to 177 kilometres. Instead, the Swiss have opted for smaller battery options, which they had already announced when the electric scooter was launched in Germany in spring 2023. At that time, 6 and 14 kWh (for 91 and 230 kilometres respectively) were promised, but now, in conjunction with the Lite version, there is talk of 5.5 and 11 kWh, which should last for 100 and 180 kilometres respectively. For AC charging with 2.2 kW, a charging time of two or four hours to 80% of the battery charge level is also specified.

The dimensions are otherwise identical. The Microlino Lite is also a two-seater and measures 2,519 x 1,473 x 1,501 millimetres with a boot capacity of 230 litres. However, Micro Mobility Systems has introduced some design features for the new L6e version. Specifically, the colours Venice Blue and Berlin Anthracite as well as details in orange.

“The Microlino Lite is our contribution to making sustainable mobility solutions accessible to an even wider community. We recognize the growing need for such mobility, especially among those who want to be safe and protected from the weather without a driver’s license,” explained Merlin Ouboter from Micro Mobility Systems.
