Gogoro expands battery swapping into Latin America

The Taiwanese electric scooter and battery swapping company Gogoro has expanded into Chile and Columbia. Back home, the company has just launched its flagship electric scooter Pulse.

Gogoro is partnering with Latin American energy company Copec to launch its battery swapping and Smartscooters in Chile and Colombia in Q2 2024. Empresas Copec is a Chilean energy and forestry company with a chain of gas stations throughout Chile. The company was founded in 1934. Incidentally, the first president of Copec, Pedro Aguirre Cerda, later became president of Chile.

With Gogoro’s renown battery swapping stations Copec is developing the first Latin American network of battery swapping stations. Gogoro battery swapping stations are already spreading throughout Indonesia, Israel, India, and the Philippines, besides outnumbering petrol stations in its native Taiwan.

Copec is launching at Copec service stations in Santiago, Chile. In Colombia, Gogoro’s battery swapping stations will be installed at Terpel service stations in Bogota, which are a Copec company.

In Taiwan, Gogoro has just unveiled its new flagship electric scooter Pulse. The Pulse is expected to begin shipping in Taiwan in late Q2 2024.

The new electric scooter has been kitted out with Gogoro’s new smart cockpit dashboard. This is comprised of a 10.25-inch HD touch display. Gogoro says its smart cockpit is the first two-wheeler in the world to be powered by Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon QWM2290 digital chassis.
