Switch EV enters Plug&Charge agreement

Hubject has found another partner in London's Switch EV. Their charger operating system, Josev, is now certified for Plug&Charge. The company counts ABB among its backers and has also entered the DACH markets.

Josev enables the integration of ISO 15118-2 and next-generation ISO 15118-20 features, which include bi-directional AC and DC power flow and the Megawatt Charging System (MCS). In other words, charger manufacturers that rely on Switch EV’s operating system will be able to certify in a single session, “cutting weeks off the certification process,” according to Hubject. Switch EV claims that some Josev customers have already realised savings of up to 10,000 euros.

“Embedding the latest industry standards into our products to elevate the user experience and, thereby, increase the adoption of EVs is a vital part of the Switch DNA”, stated Switch’s founder and CEO, Marc Mültin.

The executive has been working on the international EV communication standards ISO 15118 (Plug&Charge) and the latest OCPP 2.0.1 himself. These protocols also underpinned the Switch platform from the start.

“Our goal is to help EV infrastructure developers create new revenue streams at pace,” he added today. “Over and above that, we’re excited to pass the time and cost savings on to our customers. Josev is easy to use and rock solid. It will allow them to expand their offerings quickly.”

ABB E-Mobility reportedly acquired a stake in Switch EV last year and considers the company a “deep-tech startup” able to unlock more integrated charging experiences.

Based in London, the company has since become active in continental Europe, specifically via its subsidiary Switch EV GmbH, based in Munich. It serves the DACH market, i.e. Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
