Alpitronic opens development centre in Bologna
Alpitronic’s fifth location, alongside Bolzano and Bergamo in Italy, Munich in Germany and Charlotte in the USA, consists of a laboratory and various offices and currently has ten employees, “including mainly engineers with expertise in the areas of system development and testing, software, hardware (EMC) and cybersecurity”. According to the press release, the aim is to double the size of the team in the coming months.
According to Alpitronic, Bologna was chosen in order to benefit from the expertise of the local ‘Motor Valley’. “The decision to choose Bologna as a location was a conscious one, as the city is known as an outstanding centre for the development of systems, hardware and software,” Alpitronic wrote. The location also offers proximity to renowned research institutions such as the University of Bologna, the Automotive Academy in Modena and the University of Automotive Engineering of Emilia Romagna (MUNER).
We expect great added value from our new development site in Bologna,” says Managing Director and co-founder Philipp Senoner. “It will play a decisive role in the continuous development of our fast-charging stations.”
The South Tyrolean company has a very successful product on the market with its Hypercharger charging stations – now also in a version with up to 400 kW charging power or 2×200 kW. In Germany, EnBW was an early major customer and relies exclusively on Alpitronic’s HPC columns for the expansion of its own “hypergrid”. Due to the high reliability and all-in-one design (without an external control cabinet), many other operators have now also opted for the hyperchargers – such as Fastned, Aral Pulse, E.ON and Allego. Ionity is now also using the HYC400 hypercharger at some locations.
