The Geely Galaxy E8 has officially launched on the Chinese market. The all-electric saloon is the first model of the Geely Galaxy brand launched in February 2023. The Galaxy E8 is already available in China at prices starting at 175,800 yuan (approx. 22,600 euros). That is 12,200 yuan less than at the pre-sale launch in mid-December.
Currently, Geely plans to launch a total of seven new vehicles under the Galaxy lineup by 2025, including four PHEV models and another three battery-electric vehicles. These models will be designated via the L series for hybrids and E series for electric vehicles. The two previous launches in the series were two hybrid vehicles, the Galaxy L7 SUV and Galaxy L6 sedan, which both released in 2023.
The Galaxy E8 is a medium-large sedan, with a length, width and height of 5,010 mm, 1,920 mm and 1,465 mm, respectively, and a wheelbase of 2,925 mm. It is based on an 800-volt platform, which the manufacturer explains allows for charging up to 180 km range on a five-minute charge. The top trim variant can accelerate from 0-100 kph in 3.49 seconds, thanks to its dual motors which total 475 kW. The Geely Galaxy E8 has a trunk with a capacity of 420 litres and a frunk for 53 litres and features a drag coefficient of Cd 0.199.
Five trim levels are available at launch, arranging from the 550km PRO to the 620km Performance, prices for which range from the above-mentioned 175,800 yuan (24,760 USD) to 228,800 yuan (32,200 USD) for the range-topping variant.
For the more affordable variants, a 400-volt platform is also available, which runs on a single 200 kW rear-axle motor. Its acceleration stands at 5.95 seconds from 0-100 kph. The Galaxy E8 is now available to order with three battery options: 62 kWh, 75.6 kWh, and 76 kWh battery. This allows for ranges of 550 kilometres, 620 kilometres, and 665 kilometres, respectively.
