Nio to present a 900-volt saloon this week
Citing high-ranking Nio managers, Chinese portals report that the Nio ET9’s interior space will be comparable to a Mercedes-Maybach. On the technical side, the manufacturer relies on 900-volt technology for shorter charging times in conjunction with an exchangeable 150-kWh semi-solid-state battery. Nio recently achieved over 1,000 kilometres without charging with such a battery in the ET7.
CN EV Post quotes several Weibo posts, including those by Bi Lu, Nio’s deputy vice president of electric drive and high-voltage systems, and Xiao Baihong, head of vehicle application software.
Despite the imminent presentation, the Nio ET9 will not launch until 2025. Prices are expected to start at around 1 million yuan, the equivalent of about 140,000 dollars. Nio will provide further details about the model at its “Nio Day 2023” in Xi’an in north-western Shaanxi on 23 December.
