E.ON Drive Infrastructure purchases AC columns from Alfen
The deal makes Alfen one of EDRI’s “preferred suppliers,” according to an accompanying press release. The installation of the Dutch manufacturer’s AC chargers will begin in Germany with more than 300 Eve Double PG-line units, 140 of which will be installed in Berlin. EDRI plans to set up further stations in cities such as Dortmund, Essen and Bochum. A minimum or maximum purchase quantity over the four years is not specified.
In countries outside of Germany, EDRI will also use the new Alfen Twin 5 charger, which supports Plug&Charge and bidirectional charging. In addition, the Twin 4XL charging station will be used in Italy – a column with two connections, which Alfen advertises as particularly robust.
The Dutch company states that some of the chargers for EDRI will be customised. For example, the charging stations for Berlin are given a particular shade of grey to meet the city’s requirement that all public charging stations have a uniform appearance. In other cities, charging stations will be a darker grey with more striking branding, Alfen explains.
Jan-Anne Hoekstra, Commercial Director for the EV Charging Equipment division at Alfen, is delighted that E.ON Drive Infrastructure chose the company as a supplier for AC hardware. “We’re especially proud that our local teams can provide EDRI with the knowledge and the latest technologies they need to help them connect market needs with our products and services.”
E.ON Drive Infrastructure currently operates over 4,000 public charging points in ten European countries: Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Poland, Italy, Norway, the UK, Hungary, Romania and the Czech Republic.
