Israel to heavily expand HPC network
The Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure plans to invest around 27.5 million Israeli shekels (approx. 6.5 million euros) in the expansion of the fast-charging infrastructure in Israel. A total of 52 companies are to build a total of 707 fast and ultra-fast chargers in the country over the next 24 months.
This is the result of a nationwide tender. Specifically, 357 fast and 350 ultrafast charging stations will be built. The former will be financed with up to 60,000 shekels (14,162 euros) and the latter with up to 100,000 shekels (23,603 euros) – in both cases, however, the state will only cover up to 50 per cent of the costs.
According to the ministry, there are currently 4,000 public charging stations in Israel – 3,400 of them are AC stations. According to its own information, the government has already supported the expansion with about 70 million shekels (about 16.5 million euros) and is planning additional support in the amount of several tens of millions of shekels in the coming year.
By 2030, the country expects about 1.3 million electric vehicles and that electromobility will account for about six per cent of electricity consumption nationwide.
