According to Solaris, SWK Mobil will receive the remaining seven buses by May 2025. The Urbino 12 Hydrogen is a twelve-metre-long solo bus. According to the manufacturer, the range is at least 300 kilometres, while Ballard Power Systems supplies the 70 kW fuel cell. The vehicle offers 32 seats and 33 standing places.

So far, Solaris has received orders for 450 of its hydrogen buses and has delivered 140 to public transport operators in several European cities. “The German market is one of the most active when it comes to equipping its fleets with hydrogen buses,” the company writes.

The federal government is subsidising the purchase of the vehicles in Krefeld with a total of 2.9 million euros. The German state of North Rhine-Westphalia is contributing a total of six million euros for the construction of a hydrogen filling station and the conversion of the maintenance workshop.
