Lilium announces sales partnership in the USA

Under the partnership in the US, which includes a commercial commitment to Lilium for five production slots, EMCJET will allow private individuals to purchase some of the first Lilium Jets in a Pioneer Edition on the US market. The price, however, is not disclosed in the announcement.

Lilium stresses that the partnership is “the first step in penetrating the US private aviation market”, the largest private aviation market. The private aviation business in the US is to be pursued in parallel with efforts around commercial operations. There, too, Lilium wants to start in the premium market first and then expand its offering for airlines and passenger shuttles.

EMCJET is already active in international aircraft trading and service. The Lilium Jet will be available nationwide, with an initial focus on key cities in Texas – including Austin, Houston, San Antonio and Dallas.

In other news, Lilium recently began assembling the electric propulsion system for the Lilium Jet at its headquarters in Weßling near Munich, Germany. This is considered an important intermediate step on the way to the first manned flight, which is planned for the end of 2024. The special, slim engines set the Lilium Jet apart from the eVTOL competition, which usually relies on electrically driven propellers.
