Europe: Zeekr and Plugsurfing partner for charging solution
Zeekr is making the local public charging infrastructure accessible to its future European customers via provider Plugsurfing. According to an accompanying statement, the charging service “Zeekr Charge”, based on a Plugsurfing solution, will include more than 550,000 public charging stations from over 500 operators in 27 countries. The service will use the charging specialist’s white-label offering and will feature automated onboarding campaigns and customised in-app illustrations, it said. Plugsurfing will provide full customer service.
“Zeekr’s mission is to accelerate the shift to fully electrified mobility by removing the barriers that are holding people back. Customers are saying ‘make it easy’. And that is exactly what we intend to do. Thus, we are delighted about our partnership with Plugsurfing, a reliable partner that helps us accelerate the shift to EVs by providing us with a service that will make e-mobility joyful for all,” says ZEEKR Europe CEO, Spiros Fotinos.
“We’re really excited to support Zeekr’s European launch with our pan-European EV charging solution. Over our years of experience in the European market, we’ve built a premium, modular product that helps bring peace of mind to our partners’ drivers through our network’s reliability and ease of use,” says Plugsurfing Chief Product Officer, William Gill.
Meanwhile, Zeekr started production of the Zeekr X for Europe a few days ago. The brand had already started production of the European version of the Zeekr 001 at the beginning of August. The first Zeekr 001s have already been shipped to the European debut markets of Sweden and the Netherlands, and the first Zeekr Xs are on their way there. The car maker is aiming for the first deliveries in Germany in the first half of 2024.
The Geely brand presented its European strategy for the first time at the China Auto Show in April. Since then, it has been clear that the 001 and the Zeekr X will be the first models destined for the continent. The almost five-metre-long Shooting Brake 001 is the brand’s debut model, which has already been on sale in China since October 2021, while the X is a compact model with SUV elements. Zeekr’s second model, the large premium van 009, is not due to come to Europe.
