GS Yuasa moves European headquarters to Swindon
Japanese battery manufacturer GS Yuasa has opened its new European headquarters and distribution centre in the English town of Swindon. With the opening of the new facility, GS Yuasa Battery Europe will move its headquarters there from Ebbw Vale in Wales.
The building, which covers more than 16,000 square meters, is said to have “state-of-the-art warehouse equipment.” It includes a specially adapted and automated racking system. In Swindon, GS Yuasa can now store up to one million batteries and 23,000 pallets, 70 per cent more than at Ebbw Vale. The automated system enables more efficient use of capacity, which is a crucial aspect of “ensuring a reliable and efficient supply chain worldwide.”
The new site will also become the operational base for subsidiary GS Yuasa Battery Sales UK Ltd. GS Yuasa says the building will help link its divisions more closely and further expand “the market influence of GS Yuasa’s European subsidiaries.”
GS Yuasa Battery Europe coordinates six sales companies and one production plant in Europe. The German subsidiary, GS Yuasa Battery Germany GmbH, is based in Krefeld and serves 15 countries within Europe from there.
“The investment in this new headquarters reflects our commitment to consistently improving the customer experience, customer service and offering,” said Andrew Taylor, Managing Director and CEO of GS Yuasa Battery Europe. “With the state-of-the-art warehouse solutions and larger storage capacity, we are ideally prepared to meet the growing demand for batteries in Europe and the UK and continue to grow successfully.”
