VW announces new rebate for London following ULEZ
Volkswagen UK is offering up to £4,500 to people affected by the expansion of the Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) across London. The amount on offer from Volkswagen ranges from £1,750 to £4,500, depending on the chosen model, and is available as an alternative to current offers from the brand.
The German manufacturer specified that a range of VW models qualifies, including all current electric ID models. The offer is available in the form of cash discounts from Volkswagen “to anyone in London’s 32 boroughs who qualifies for the Mayor of London’s scrappage scheme”. However, VW does specify that while the discounts can be used at any Volkswagen Retailer in the UK, “customers must be able to prove their eligibility for the ULEZ scrappage scheme”. The offer is currently slated to end on 31 December 2023.
In terms of how much funding is available to customers, the amount depends on which vehicle they wish to purchase: For the acquisition of a Polo or a T-Cross, £1,750 will be provided as a purchase bonus. The sum goes up to £2,000 for the Taigo, and then to £2,500 for the T-Roc and the new ID.3 variant. Next up the ladder is £3,500 for the original variant ID.3, followed by the ID.4 with £4,000. The highest amount, with the £4,500 mentioned above, is only available for the ID.5.
London’s Ultra Low Emissions Zone (ULEZ) was initially introduced in 2020, and has been steadily expanding since then, finally covering all of London with the last expansion at the end of August.
