Seres arrives at the IAA with two new electric SUVs
The Seres brand, which is a subsidiary of the Chinese Sokon group, has presented two new models at the IAA Mobility. Both vehicles are large electric SUVs, designed for global markets.
In addition to the previously presented electric Seres 5, which is already available in Europe, these include the all-electric Seres 3 city SUV, which also debuted as a right-hand drive. According to the company website, the Seres 3 has an output of 120 kW and offers a WLTP range of 300 kilometres. Additionally, the Seres 5 has been upgraded with a 90kWh four-wheel-drive, offering improved performance and a longer range. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds, and its WLTP range has increased to 530km.
The third model presented by the brand at the IAA is the Seres 7, a large premium SUV that features a range extender in addition to the electric drive system. Technical data on the Seres 7 have not yet been disclosed, however, it is to be based on the Aito M7, which is offered with a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder that acts as a range extender to recharge the battery, making it a REEV (Range-Extender Electric Vehicle), rather than a plug-in hybrid, as the combustion motor only serves to charge the battery, rather than being able to power the wheels on its own.
Since January 2023, Seres says it has reached more than 20 countries in Europe, the Middle East, North and South America and Africa. The company also completed a quality test on the road across Europe, crossing 21 countries in 23 days and covering over 10,000 kilometres per vehicle. The Seres 5, for example, has been going out to customers since July this year. Seres presented its first vehicle, the SF-5, back in 2019.
“As a tech manufacturing company focused on new energy, equipped with fantastic R&D capabilities and world-class intelligent factories, SERES will be able to offer European and global consumers a broader range of models and a better service experience,” said Zhang Xingyan, the president of Seres overseas division.
