Tesla lowers Model S & X prices in China, Europe & the USA
Tesla has again significantly reduced the prices for the Model S and Model X – this time, around the globe. In Germany, prices will fall by 10 to 16 per cent. The US electric carmaker is also making its premium models up to 20 per cent cheaper in China. Likewise in the USA, prices are falling by 15 to 19 per cent.
In the USA, prices are falling by 15 to 19 per cent: The Long Range versions now start at 74,990 dollars (Model S, – 3,500 dollars) and 79,990 dollars (Model X, – 8,500 dollars). The Plaid versions are now in the configurator from $89,990 instead of $108,490. With regard to the US prices, it should be noted that net prices are always quoted in the United States.
Another thing to note is that the standard range version of the Model S and Model X, which was only recently introduced in the US, is no longer available in the US configurator. When they were introduced in mid-August, they each cost $10,000 less than the long-range versions, but had less range due to software limitations.
In Germany, the Tesla Model S with simple all-wheel drive is now available in the configurator from 94,990 euros and thus costs around ten per cent less than last time. The price for the Model S Plaid fell by almost 16 per cent to 109,990 euros. The Tesla Model X now costs 99,990 euros in Germany with single all-wheel drive, around twelve per cent less than last time. Tesla has reduced the price of the Model X Plaid by around 14 per cent to 109,990 euros.
In January 2023, the long-range versions of the Model S and Model X went on sale for 112,990 euros (Model S) and 120,990 euros (Model X). Tesla already made its entire model range cheaper in Germany in April. All variants of the premium vehicles were reduced in price by 10,000 euros – i.e. the Model S Long Range (as of April: 102,990 euros), the Model S Plaid (127,990 euros), the Model X Long Range (110,990 euros) and the Model X Plaid (130,990 euros). A slight increase followed in May. The Model S Long Rage, for example, start from 105,490 euros.
Now, once again, there is a considerable price cut. When looking at the prices quoted by Tesla, it should be noted that a processing and delivery fee is added for each vehicle.
Tesla is also stepping up the price war internationally. In China, the Model S Long Range is now offered from 698,800 yuan (-13.6 per cent, equivalent to 90,567 euros) and the Model S Plaid from 828,900 yuan (-19.4 per cent, equivalent to 107,429 euros). Similarly, prices for the Model X Long Range fall to 738,900 yuan (-17.8 per cent, equivalent to 95,765 euros) and for the Model X Plaid to 838,900 yuan (-20.8 per cent, equivalent to 108,725 euros).
