Seres teams up with Bosch in development cooperation
The Chinese electric car brand Seres has concluded a strategic cooperation agreement with Bosch China for the development of electric vehicles. Among other things, this involves safety and assistance systems, but also the electrification of the powertrain.
According to the agreement, the cooperation between Seres Auto and Bosch China includes new material applications and component supplies in the areas of vehicle safety and driver assistance systems, automation functions, powertrain and electrification solutions, as well as technologies and services for the after-sales market. At least that is what the Gasgoo portal writes. It is not specified whether the powertrain solutions are only about battery-electric drives or hybrid drives.
According to this, Bosch China will be appointed as a strategic partner of Seres. Concrete projects are not mentioned in the brief announcement. However, representatives of both companies are said to have emphasised the “strong foundation” of the partnership when signing the cooperation agreement. Chen Yudong, president of Bosch China, is said to have referred to the friendship that has developed between Bosch China and Seres over the past two decades. Bosch will “continue to provide Seres with even more competitive products, technologies and services”.
The next step will be to form special cooperation teams “to promote synergistic innovation and technological strengthening”. Again, there are no concrete announcements yet.
Seres Auto (formerly active as SF Motors) is used as a brand of the Sokon Group to sell electric cars. The electric SUV Seres 5 has also been sold in Europe since July at prices starting at 63,900 euros. In China, however, Seres also has hybrid models on offer.
