Lucid recalls over 6,000 Air sedans in the US

California’s EV startup Lucid Motors has issued three separate recalls in one week, all affecting the Air sedan. Fittingly enough, two potential fails can be solved via over-the-air updates; however, the biggest issue impacts most Lucid cars.

According to the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHSTA) filing, the biggest issue relates to 5,523 Lucid Air sedans. A nut fixing the wiper arm may come loose, reducing visibility and increasing the chances of a crash.

Lucid service centres will now have to inspect the part and fix or replace it free of charge.

As for issue number two, the recall affects 59 Lucid Air EVs running on software versions 2.015 to 2.0.50. Here, the rearview camera may fail while in reverse. Lucid says it has already released the corresponding over-the-air (OTA) software update to fix the issue.

The same is the case for the last recall; this time issued for 778 Air models with software version 2.0.64 and older. Power loss may occur.

Taken together, the recalls affect 6,360 Lucid Air vehicles built in 2022 and 2023. Since production output is reportedly low, the recall ultimately affects almost all Air sedans built in the last year up until now.

Owners may contact the company’s customer service at 1-888-995-8243. Quote the recall number SR-23-02-0 for the windshield wiper, SR-23-02-0 for the rearview camera display and the power loss issue is SR-23-04-0. The NHTSA also expects Lucid to mail notification letters by 25 September 2023.

By now, the authority counts seven recalls affecting the Lucid Air.

Only a few weeks ago, Lucid cut US prices for all trim levels, some by as much as 12,550 dollars.

Every automaker has recalls. These are very minor. I remember several other car makers with a lot worse. My neighbors lucid is by far one of the most beautiful well built cars ive seen in many years. The quality is amazing!

Ain't no car built well anymore they're all made to break easily and every vehicle has some type of defect to purposely ruin the car after so long and not only that how is it that things that were built 100 to 50 years ago still can last a lot longer than car is that about nowadays everything's made out of plastic and fiberglass equipment is made to be used only so many times before it starts breaking down you pay $100,000 for a car that's almost half the price of a single-family small house and a single family small house can last over 100 years for $200,000 but a car that's worth $100,000 only will last about 15-20 years kind of makes you wonder right they do it purposely so you keep spending your freaking money cars strong and made to last a long time then they wouldn't be making much money the reason why they don't screw you over there's no reason why somebody in a lifetime needs anywhere from five to 10 vehicles in their lifetime if they choose to buy a car and make it last as long as possible without having to keep buying vehicles to see my point a person lose the average lifespan to 75 years why is it that they will have at least 5 to 10 cars and them cars cost anywhere from 35 to $80,000 more than a house that doesn't make sense right you would think the engine should last much longer than 20 years but the price tag of 80,000 like my F350 that will not last more than 20 years that's why the F350s used to rot away within 10 years people spend $70 to $80,000 for a brand new one that's crazy and the only glasses 20 years at the most because most people don't keep their car for 20 years and then you have to finance fee so it's more than 70 to 80,000 see these big car companies Etc screw everybody it's wrong people who can never pay off their new cars and afford things because they make things to break and keep breaking so you constantly have to keep buying the same thing it's all bullshit
