Tesla Semi clone spotted in China
Tesla’s electric truck is apparently being “cloned” in China. A recently discovered prototype, presumably from the Chinese vehicle manufacturer JAC, looks strikingly similar to the Tesla Semi.
A Chinese Tesla driver spotted a prototype on a motorway. As seen in pictures published on Twitter, the heavily camouflaged vehicle is transported on a low-loader.
The basic layout could make one think of a Tesla Semi at first – the rising front, angled windscreen, and the seemingly centrally placed driver’s seat resemble the Tesla original. However, the headlight section in front of the front wheel does not correspond to the Semi. And the wraparound window glass without visible A-pillar and the exterior mirror concept were not adopted either.
Tesla owner saw something like Tesla Semi in a freeway rest area. It looks like Tesla Semi knockoff on the way to Xinjiang for summer testing. Also looks like it has vision-based ADAS. Competition is coming. @elonmusk @Tesla_Asia pic.twitter.com/7Xha8Q2p2N
