China: Zeekr lowers its prices until the end of the year
Geely’s EV subsidiary Zeekr has slashed its Zeekr 001 model prices in China. Customers, who purchase the EV before the end of the year, get the car for up to 37,000 yuan (4,700 euros) less.
Zeekr currently offers four versions of the Zeekr 001 model in China. The prices of the first two, normally offered from 300,000 yuan (37,771 euros), are reduced by 31.000 yuan (3,903 euros). The version with a starting price of 349,000 yuan (43,944 euros) offers 30,000 yuan (3,777 euros), while the price of the top model, normally offered from 386,000 yuan (48,602 euros), is reduced by the above-mentioned 37,000 yuan.
The offer is valid for all vehicles purchased between 1 August and 31 December 2023. On top of that, “customers who buy most Zeekr 001 models” will receive a 7kW home charger at no additional cost.
The carmaker hopes the move will help it meet its sales target of around 140,00 units for 2023 across all models. Zeekr also sells the Zeekr 009 and the Zeekr X in China. However, so far, Zeekr has sold only 54,672 units in China, meaning it needs to sell more than 85,000 EVs by the end of December to meet its goal.
Zeekr also announced a performance version of the Zeekr 001 with the suffix FR. The brand showed first images in a social media post. “Plaid is dull,” it says, referring to Tesla’s performance variants of the Model S and Model X. As Reuters reports, sales of the Zeekr 001 FR will start in just a few weeks. The first deliveries are planned for 2023. Prices are expected to be above one million yuan (around 127,000 euros).
Earlier this month, Zeekr also kicked off production of the Zeekr 001 for Europe. It is available in the Netherlands, Sweden, Germany, Norway, Denmark and France.
The Geely brand presented its European strategy at Auto China in April and named the 001 and the Zeekr X as the first models for the continent. The almost five-metre-long Shooting Brake 001 is the brand’s debut model and has been offered in China since October 2021. The X is a compact car with SUV leanings. The second Zeekr model, the large premium van 009, will not be made available in Europe.
