Radisson has PowerGo equip hotels with EV charging stations
The Radisson Hotel Group has commissioned Dutch PowerGo to equip 300 European hotels with charging infrastructure. The roll-out is part of Radisson’s ‘Green Mobility Mindset’ initiative and is already underway.
PowerGo is installing the first eight charging stations under this partnership at the Radisson Blu Scandinavia Hotel in Oslo and expects the works to be completed by mid-July. The chargers can be used by guests and visitors of the hotel.
Details on the charging technology have not been disclosed, nor have PowerGo or Radisson named the following hotels to benefit from EV charging.
Instead, “for each location, we determine whether AC chargers, fast chargers, or a combination of both is most suitable so that we can meet the needs for each specific hotel’s charging infrastructure,” said Ivo van Dam, Chief Technology Officer at PowerGo.
PowerGo acts as a Charge Point Operator (CPO), who manages and operates the charging infrastructure using the EV platform of partner Spirii at no cost to the Radisson hotels up for installation.
“We offer each hotel owner an advantageous financial model,” added van Dam, who also mentioned clean and renewable energy as an essential factor amongst competitors.
“Over 70% of clients indicate they want to choose sustainable travel options,” said Inge Huijbrechts, Global SVP of Sustainability, Security and Corporate Communications at Radisson Hotel Group. “The cooperation with PowerGo will help us go beyond the 700+ EV chargers currently installed in our hotels and reach our aim to equip all eligible hotels in Europe and beyond with EV charging facilities by 2025.”
Radisson also cooperates with Allego in the development of charging infrastructure. Allego is to provide and operate AC and DC charging solutions at more than 220 Radisson hotels across Europe. In October 2022, it came to light that the cooperation had gone beyond the continent when Radisson said it commissioned more than 510 charging stations at 141 locations in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. In India, the group’s more than 100 hotels will be equipped with charging stations in cooperation with technology partner Sunfuel.
As for the PowerGo station, these will become part of the extensive network the CPO is rolling out and made available on the app. Together with Spirii, they plan to install 15,000 charging points in at least seven designated countries within the next two years, as reported.
