Helixx to use Siemens Xcelerator technology
UK start-up Helixx has teamed up with Siemens to produce its electric vehicle manufacturing system. It will thus use products from the Siemens Xcelerator portfolio for the latter’s design, development, validation, delivery and management.
Helixx does not want to manufacture electric cars itself. It just wants to design them and enable production. Other companies can license the technology, and Helixx will provide everything needed for a so-called Helixx Mobility Hub. That way, others operate the factories to assemble a range of small, electric commercial vehicles.
“It enables Helixx partners not just to make a much-needed zero-emission commercial vehicle, but to also run the entire manufacturing system and supply chain autonomously with minimal complexity”, says Helixx CEO and founder Steve Pegg. He adds that “collaborating with Siemens and having access to the industry-leading Siemens Xcelerator software portfolio for digital transformation is pivotal to Helixx’s strategy and is a key part of unlocking global growth and supporting our licence holders”.
Siemens was already on board for the concept hub in Oxfordshire. More pilots are planned in the UK and Singapore.
