Audi opens charging hub in Austria

Audi has opened its first charging hub in Austria. The hub is located in Salzburg and operated in collaboration with Moon Power, which also runs an EV competence centre in the immediate vicinity of the hub.

The hub is the Volkswagen brand’s fourth fast-charging location after Nuremberg, Zurich and Berlin. Similar to the hub in the German capital, the Audi Charging Hub in Salzburg offers four fast charging points with 320 kW power that can be reserved in advance. To relieve the strain on the grid connection, the Charging Hub has a stationary battery storage unit. The hub makes use of second-life batteries for power storage. These batteries are used and reconditioned lithium-ion batteries from dismantled development vehicles. This means no medium-voltage connection is required, and the 320 kW can be called up at any time, even if all charging points are occupied.

“We are delighted to be able to open the Audi charging hub in Salzburg as the fourth location worldwide,” says Thomas Beran, brand manager Audi Austria. “Flexible and premium fast charging infrastructure in urban areas is becoming increasingly important due to the rising share of electric vehicles.”

The new charging park is located not far from Mooncity, Salzburg’s competence and experience centre for new and electric mobility. The charge point operator (CPO) is Moon Power, which handles the purchase of electricity and operates the entire billing system.
