XCharge unveils 420kW charging point for Europe
The Chinese charging infrastructure manufacturer XCharge presented its new ultra-fast charging station C7 with a charging capacity of up to 420 kW for the first time in Oslo. A version that complies with calibration regulations should also be available soon.
Thanks to the flexible charging distribution, two vehicles can charge simultaneously. The increments in which the power can be divided between the two charging points of the column are not specified in the announcement.
Instead, XCharge highlights another of the C7’s features: While the charging process is controlled via a smaller touch display, the 21.5-inch LCD screen can be customised, for example, with additional advertising or information. That way, operators could generate additional income from advertising, for example. The design LED lights integrated into the casing can be animated, and the colour can be customised – for instance, to make it easy to locate the charging pole in a large car park.
Despite the charging capacity, the charging pole only requires a footprint of 80 by 90 centimetres, which means it can be easily retrofitted to existing parking spaces. In the press release, XCharge does not state whether an external electrical cabinet is required in addition to the charging pole. However, the C7 is said to meet all specifications of DIN 18040-3 for barrier-free construction in public transport and open spaces.
According to XCharge, the C7 also meets all other technical and construction specifications for use in Germany and Europe. A version that complies with calibration regulations should be available soon. In addition to the C7, the custody transfer compliant C6EU and the battery-supported fast chargers of the Net-Zero series are also to remain in the range.
“The new Smart DC Charger C7 is another important addition to the growing XCharge portfolio,” says Christoph Ebersdorfer, Regional Sales Manager DACH, XCharge Europe. “The fast provision of high-performance charging points is essential for the transformation to e-mobility and for the rapid achievement of the European Net Zero targets. With this new product, we are actively contributing to the rapid expansion of the charging infrastructure for electric vehicles.”
