Technotrans secures deal worth millions
Technotrans is developing a cooling solution for the battery-supported ChargePost rapid charging station on behalf of ADS-TEC Energy. According to the thermal management specialist from Sassenheim, the order has a total volume in the high single-digit million euro range.
The deal has a volume in the single-digit million Euro range, according to Technotrans. The company will provide the cooling solution for the power electronics and the battery-storage system hooked up to the chargers. It will also cool the two digital advertising displays outside the station.
The cooling solution is integrated flat in the upper part of the charging station, giving Technotrans less than two square metres to work with. According to the company, the system features “active cooling by means of a power-controlled compressor-based refrigeration unit and passive cooling by means of a free cooling system”. The latter uses ambient air for cooling, making it particularly energy efficient.
Production takes place at the Steinhagen plant, which went into operation in April. The companies did not specify how many charging stations would be fitted with the cooling solutions. But Technotrans writes that the ordered units will be produced “over the next 12 months”.
“This order is a milestone in the history of Technotrans and underlines our competence as a supplier for electromobility applications”, says Michael Finger, spokesman of the Board of Management at Technotrans.
The ChargePost by ADS TEC Energy provides up to 300 kW and comes with a battery buffer, making fast charging possible, even when connected to an existing low-voltage grid. The company launched the product about a year ago.
