Human Horizons to introduce HiPhi models in Europe
Chinese carmaker Human Horizons announces the imminent European launch of its HiPhi electric car brand. The first brand representative will be the electric SUV HiPhi X, whose EU homologation via TÜV SÜD has now been completed.
Human Horizons specialises in building luxury electric cars. In its home market, the company presented the HiPhi X in 2020. In Europe, the market launch is likely to be imminent following the homologation that has now been made public. According to Human Horizons, a second model, the electric coupé HiPhi Z, will soon follow in Europe. More details about HiPhi’s plans for Europe will be announced at the Shanghai Auto Show. The third model, the HiPhi Y, will also be presented at the show.
In an accompanying press release, Human Horizons names as features of the HiPhi X a 220-kW dual motor front and rear with an efficiency of 97.2 per cent, a 97-kWh battery pack, a range of 650 kilometres according to the Chinese CLTC cycle and acceleration to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds. The Chinese manufacturer does not state how high the WLTP range determined by the German regulatory agency TÜV Süd will be. Instead, it emphasises the luxury features in the form of a 17-speaker Meridian audio system, a 19.9-inch entertainment screen for the front passenger and a customisable smart fragrance system.
The HiPhi X is “available as a six-seater or an even more luxurious four-seater configuration, including a smart fridge, 8-inch high-definition rear touchscreens and fully reclining executive airline-style seats”, it adds. There are no details on pricing yet. In China, the 2020 model was offered as a four- and six-seater at prices starting at 800,000 and 680,000 yuan, respectively, the equivalent of about 100,000 and 85,000 euros.
The HiPhi Z electric coupé, also announced for Europe, was launched in China in August 2022. It has been delivered locally since the beginning of this year. Human Horizons cites a two-engine layout with up to 494 kW of power, a 120 kWh battery pack, 705 kilometres of range according to CLTC and a sprint to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds as its key features. In China, the model will be offered as a four- and five-seater at prices starting at 630,000 and 610,000 yuan respectively, about 83,500 and 80,800 euros.
“Receiving the required test reports from TÜV SÜD for European vehicle approval is not only an important step forward in our carefully thought-out plans for the European market launch, but also a confirmation of the meticulous standards to which HiPhi products are developed,” expresses HiPhi CTO and co-founder Mark Stanton. “European road safety standards are among the strictest in the world, and the approval by TÜV SÜD confirms that HiPhi X meets these standards.”
