UK: InstaVolt accelerates network expansion in March
British charging network InstaVolt says this March marks its most active month to date, with a record 80 rapid chargers activated throughout the UK during the month. The expansion comes amid the SMMT, revealing a record monthly high of 46,626 BEVs sold last month.
The SMMT figures show an 18.5% increase in electric car registrations from this time last year. At the same time, the BEV market share is stabilising at 16.2%, almost the same as last year.
InstaVolt adds that the recently installed chargers cover more than ten regions across the UK. This includes the expansion of InstaVolt’s largest rapid charging hub, Stroud Park on the M40, and a six-charger site in Bristol.
Adrian Keen, the InstaVolt CEO, said the accelerated expansion of their public charging network was “a testament to the growing demand for EV infrastructure”. He also pointed to a recent milestone with the company activating its 1,000th charger, as noted in our newsletter and online.
InstaVolt was sold by Zouk Capital to EQT Infrastructure in February 2022. The new owner committed to investing in the accelerated roll-out and targets a network of 10,000 fast chargepoints across the UK by 2032.
