VW opens the order books in Germany for the ID.3

Three weeks after its world premiere, the revised version of the VW ID.3 is now available for order in Germany. The new ID.3 Pro with the 58 kWh battery starts as previously communicated at list prices from €39,995. The price for the ID.3 Pro S with the 77 kWh battery was also revealed.

Pre-sales of the new ID.3 for many other countries in Europe will start at the beginning of April, according to VW. In the announcement itself, the Wolfsburg-based company still only mentions the base price of 39,995 euros communicated a few weeks ago. In the configurator, which has now gone live for the start of orders, you can now find what is available for this sum: While the 58 kWh battery and the 150 kW electric drive system were known, VW had not yet given any details on the exact standard equipment.

In the basic version, the ID.3 Pro stands on 18-inch steel wheels. LED headlights with automatic headlight control and LED rear lights (now the part in the boot lid also lights up) are also standard, and there is now a twelve-inch touchscreen. However, there is no navigation system ex works, the system in this trim is only prepared for later activation of the navigation function. With the revised ID.3, VW also introduces Functions-on-Demand as mentioned at the world premiere – customers can now book such software afterwards. However, prices for the Functions-on-Demand offer are not yet available at the start of the order process.

The free paint finish is ‘Moonstone Grey’ with a black roof. Other paint colours cost between 710 and 860 euros extra. The more expensive category includes the colour ‘Dark Olivine Green Metallic’, which Volkswagen used in its advertising campaign. Other rims cost between 705 euros (18-inch aluminium rims) and 1,900 euros (the familiar 20-inch rims) extra.

With the start of ordering, prices for the ID.3 Pro S with the 77 kWh battery are now also known. This model is currently only available as a four-seater at prices starting at 47,595 euros. Before the facelift, the Pro S was also available as a five-seater for a time. The four-seater, which can now be ordered, is also powered by the 150 kW permanent magnet motor, but thanks to the latest software it also receives an upgrade in charging power: the MEB models with the 77 kWh battery can now charge at up to 170 kW at peak.

The ID.3 Pro S not only has the larger (and more expensive) battery but is also slightly better equipped than the basic ID.3. It comes with the electrically adjustable “ergoActive” seats in the front as standard. In addition, it is fitted with 19-inch aluminium rims as standard; the 20-inch rims cost only 625 euros more.

It also bears mentioning that the revised ID.3 does not come with a heat pump; this component has to be ordered separately for 990 euros. When it comes to the other options that are subject to an extra charge, VW relies primarily on equipment packages that can be ordered for the exterior, the interior and the assistance systems in a simpler version and as a more extensive ‘Plus’ package. Only a few functions, such as the ACC automatic distance control, are available separately for 320 euros. Travel Assist, which is now also available in the ID.3, is only available as a package for 2,245 euros. With full equipment, an ID.3 Pro S can thus also be configured at prices of around 60,000 euros.
