InstaVolt installs 1,000th charger in the UK

UK charging network InstaVolt expanded its rapid charging hub in Banbury, Oxfordshire, making the site one of the largest charging hubs in the country. Situated on the M40, the site now has doubled the number of chargers bringing the total to 32.

Instavolt installed 16 new 120 kW chargers alongside its existing array of eight 125 kW rapid chargers and eight 150 kW Alpitronic chargers. The Banbury hub now includes twelve wider access bays and four fully accessible bays with new lighting.

The company’s Chief Executive Officer, Adrian Keen, said that the Stroud Park expansion was to ensure “that adequate charging infrastructure is available to keep up with the increase in EV uptake and bridge the gap between the number of vehicles and chargers”.

According to company estimates, there are over 690,000 battery-electric cars on UK roads.

Zouk Capital sold InstaVolt to the investor EQT Infrastructure in February 2022. The new owner committed to investing in the accelerated roll-out of InstaVolt charging points to build a network of 10,000 fast charging points across the UK by 2032.

The Stroud Park expansion saw InstaVolt energise its 1,000th charger in the UK.
