LiveWire One launches in Europe
The first all-electric motorcycle of Harley-Davidson’s LiveWire brand can now be pre-ordered in Europe. Just in time for the motorcycle season. For a €100 down-payment, customers in Germany, France, the Netherlands and the UK can reserve a LiveWire One and “secure priority delivery beginning later in April”.
The electric motorcycle can be configured online, with prices starting at €24,990 in Germany. This makes the LiveWire One a good deal cheaper than the first attempt under the Harley-Davidson brand name in 2019: At that time, the model was offered in Germany from €32,995.
It is a little more expensive in France and the Netherlands, starting at €25,290 and €25,390, respectively. In the UK, the LiveWire One is available from £22,990, or about €26,220.
The LiveWire One is available in three colours: Nimbus Gray, Nightfall Blue, and Liquid Black. According to the manufacturer, the motorcycle is equipped with a 15.4 kWh battery, allowing for a range of over 140 miles in the city (225 km) and over 90 miles (145km) when driving on the highway and the city. There are no current details on the engine, but when first presented in 2019, the LiveWire sported an electric drive with 78 kW and was said to have a top speed of 177 km/h. Ready to ride, the motorcycle is said to weigh 255 kilograms.
However, one important point is not mentioned: The US model is equipped with the CCS1 standard for DC charging, but CCS2 charging plugs and also Type 2 plugs for AC charging are standard in Europe. The announcement only states that the One should be able to charge from 20 to 80 per cent in 30 minutes. LiveWire’s German homepage states that the machine uses “a standard J1772 charging plug” – which would be the Type 1 plug for AC charging that is common in the US.
LiveWire recently postponed the launch of its second model to the second half of this year, without further specifying planned delivery dates. The company also did not give a reason why the launch of the S2 Del Mar is being pushed back.
