Ford lowers prices of the Mustang Mach-E in China
Ford has reduced the retail prices of its Mustang Mach-E electric model in China by 40,000 yuan ($5,755). The price reduction is limited until 30 April because a revised variant is allegedly already in the starting blocks.
Ford already reduced the prices of the Mustang Mach-E in China by up to 28,000 yuan at the end of October, responding to price cuts made by Tesla. According to Chinese media, the new discount action comes as Ford is already working on a new edition of the Chinese-made Mustang Mach-E and wants to reduce inventory and showroom vehicles before the launch.
Prices for three of the four trims have been reduced by 40,000 yuan, making the E-SUV currently available from 209,900 yuan ($30,199). That makes the EV slightly cheaper than the Nissan Ariya, even though the Japanese manufacturer had lowered the prices for its electric SUV in February. Toyota, too, reduced the price of its electric SUV bZ4X in China by 30,000 yuan. The price cut wave was initiated by Tesla at the beginning of the year.
However, it remains to be seen how many Mustang Mach-E Ford has sold in China so far. The company has not yet provided any details, and the model has never made it into the monthly sales rankings of the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA).
