Gridserve installed 32 new HPC in January
After a track record of over 100 high-power chargers installed in 2022, Gridserve is accelerating into 2023 with 32 new high-power chargers opened at four new Electric Super Hubs in January.
The new high-power chargers are capable of charging with capacities up to 350kW and are located on what Gridserve refers to as some of the UK’s busiest roads. These include the road to Stonehenge on the A303, where eight high-power chargers were installed at Solstice Park. On the M23, Pease Pottage has six HPCs on the M4, Reading Westbound is now supplying drivers access to power with 12 of the DC charging stations.
Six HPC stations were installed in Cherwell Valley to help boost the charging network on the M40. With the installation of the 32 new chargers, there are now 173 High Power chargers installed at 16 Electric Super Hubs and two Electric Forecourts.
In total, the Gridserve Electric Highway now operates chargers in 169 locations and is currently delivering over 10 million EV miles into the UK’s electric vehicles every month.
“We are thrilled to be building on the great progress we made in 2022 with four new Electric Super Hub locations opening in January alone,” said Toddington Harper, CEO of Gridserve, adding: “As the demand for electric vehicles and charging increases, it is vital we continue this pace to roll out the installation of High Power chargers to support EV drivers and those making the switch to electric. We look forward to continuing our vast expansion throughout the rest of 2023.”
Gridserve completed a successful funding round with a 200 million pound investment last August, which certainly helped the company expand their charging network. By last September, a charging park at Gatwick Airport was under construction, which should be completed this year. Gridserve has been steadily expanding their charging network before the investment as well, however, with the installation of charging parks in Wales a year ago, and what Gridserve calls the ‘UK’s busiest motorway‘ in May.
