Deliveries of the Hycan A06 start in China
The Chinese electric car brand Hycan is starting deliveries of its first electric coupe model the Hycan A06 on the Chinese market. Deliveries are now kicking off in Guangzhou and Hangzhou.
The Hycan brand released its first model, an all-electric mid-sized SUV called Hycan 007 in April 2020. Although the brand was started in a joint venture by Chinese manufacturers GAC and Nio, in the meantime Hycan is now wholly owned by GAC. This most recent model, the Hycan 06 comes with three trim levels, namely, the 550A, the 630C, and the Performance. These are priced at 179,800 yuan ($25,840), 199,800 yuan ($28,720), and 269,800 yuan ($38,770), respectively.
These three variants come with accordingly different data. The 550A is said to have a range of up to 550km under the CLTC test cycle. The range for the middle version, the 630C, is said to have a CLTC-rated range of up to 630km and an electric motor with 160kW. These two versions appear to be already available for delivery whereas the more expensive Performance variant is expected for delivery next year.
The Hycan A06 Performance is equipped with two electric motors at both the front and rear axles with a maximum combined output of 340kW. This version is said to be able to accelerate from 0-100km/h within only 3.7 seconds. This 4WD version is equipped with a ternary lithium-ion battery providing a 630 km range.
The new carmaker has described the Hycan A06 to the publication Gasgoo as having a cockpit with a wrap-around “zero-gravity” design. According to other publications, A06 is said to be one of China’s most aerodynamic vehicles with its drag coefficient is 0.217 Cd. In terms of its size, the A06 is similar to the Mercedes-Benz EQE with a wheelbase that is 270 mm shorter.
The Hycan A06’s entire model series is said to be based on the H-VIP2.0 and comes with a Qualcomm 8155 chip. This enables three-second activation for the company’s in-house developed infotainment system HI-OS. The software-defined vehicle should enable over-the-air updates as well as other capabilities for ride and car-sharing with the appropriate software.
When the order books were opened for this model in August this year, according to carnewschina, the electric sedan sold over 30,00 units in three days. The A06 began mass production in November and is now being delivered in China in the two less expensive variants.
