Hyliko to use Forsee Power batteries for their hydrogen trucks
French fuel cell truck developer Hyliko has signed a supply agreement with Forsee Power. Forsee will supply the battery systems for heavy hydrogen commercial vehicles.
Specifically, Hyliko has chosen the Pulse 2.5 battery system, which is already used in the fuel cell vehicles of other manufacturers. As reported, Ballard Motive Solutions, a British subsidiary of Ballard Power Systems, has ordered 20 battery systems from Forsee Power.
The Pulse 2.5 system is said to be characterised by its particularly flat modules. Therefore, it can be easily integrated into a truck chassis in addition to the fuel cell drive. Hyliko claims that thanks to the high energy density of the Forsee batteries, it is possible to “optimise the architecture of hydrogen trucks for better usage performance”.
Hyliko is developing two models: a 44-tonne tractor and a 26-tonne truck, which will be offered in 6×2 and 6×4 variants. A delivery start date of September 2023 is mentioned. Another supplier for the Hyliko trucks is Plastic Omnium, which will deliver 315 high-pressure hydrogen tanks for 45 vehicles by the end of 2024.
