IBU-Tec announces commercial EV development order
IBU-Tec Advanced Materials, which claims to be the only manufacturer of LFP battery materials in Europe, has received a major development order. IBU-Tec is to develop a new LFP cathode active material for an unnamed international commercial vehicle manufacturer.
In the brief announcement, the company speaks of a “significant order in the battery sector”. IBU-Tec sees the partnership as a possible model in which development cooperation “opens the door for subsequent large-volume series production of new materials as part of a European supply chain”.
Technically, the existing lithium iron phosphate products of the ‘IBUvolt’ family are to form the basis for the development contract. To what extent these materials are to be modified for commercial vehicle use is not clear from the brief announcement.
“This order is a milestone for our strategic expansion in the battery sector. The major order underpins IBU-tec’s unique position in battery materials,” says CEO Ulrich Weitz. “It is not without reason that an international commercial vehicle manufacturer relies on our know-how and experience in this field. We assume this cooperation will be exemplary for further corresponding partnerships and orders from the industry.”
