Subaru prepares to launch the 2023 Solterra in North America
In North America, Subaru is getting ready to launch the 2023 Solterra, with Canadian prices announced as well as a charging deal with EVgo in the USA.
Subaru Canada has announced pricing for the 2023 Solterra, the brand’s first globally-available battery-electric car. The Subaru Solterra starts at $54,295 in Canada and qualifies for all Federal and Provincial rebates, where applicable. Prices top out at $62,095 for the Solterra AWD w/Technology package.
In terms of technical specifications, the 2023 Solterra runs on a 72.8 kWh lithium-ion battery with up to 360km range and dual 80kW electric axle drives on the front and rear axles. With a CCS1 Combo charger, both Level One and Level Two AC and 100kW DC fast charging are possible, with the latter capable of delivering up to an 80 per cent charge in fifty minutes.
In the US, EVgo has announced an agreement with Subaru of America to provide buyers of the 2023 Solterra with a $400 charging credit on the EVgo public fast charging network. This announcement follows EVgo’s previous announcement of becoming Subaru’s preferred charging partner. The new agreement also allows customers who purchase or lease a new 2023 Subaru Solterra to select either the afore-mentioned $400 of pre-paid charging credits with EVgo or a home charger installation credit.
“Subaru and EVgo share a commitment to delivering first-in-class customer experiences and combatting climate change,” said Jonathan Levy, Chief Commercial Officer at EVgo. “It’s a natural fit for Subaru and EVgo to bring Solterra drivers a convenient and reliable charging experience on EVgo’s network as they start their electric journey.”
This is not the first partnership for EVgo with a major automotive manufacturer, as General Motors & EVgo announced plans to expand the charging network in the USA just in July. A similar deal was also set up with Nissan in 2019. The charging operator has also partnered with political players, such as the City of Portland, Maine.
