Sono & Bosch to cooperate on vehicle maintenance
Sono Motors and Bosch have agreed to cooperate on a joint Europe-wide workshop network. All services for Sono’s upcoming solar electric car will be available to users at participating workshops, including repair, service, maintenance and warranty services.
The total of 50 qualified Bosch Car Service locations will be distributed to evenly cover major cities and rural areas, according to Sono Motors. Additional authorised locations are to follow in the further roll-out “in order to map a comprehensive service network in many other European countries”.
In these partner workshops from the Bosch Car Service network, the start-up will train the workshop personnel in advance. This will authorise the workshops to carry out all repairs in the high-voltage, photovoltaic and safety areas. If necessary, however, they will be supported by Sono Motors’ technical field service. Only these authorised partner workshops are allowed to carry out repair, warranty and campaign work.
These workshops are to display a sign with the words “Sono Motors Service Partner” on the outside facade. In addition, the company is planning a workshop finder on its own website.
Smaller repair work that does not fall under the aforementioned repair, warranty and campaign work can also be carried out by independent workshops on request. For this purpose, Sono announces that it will make a Sion manual available in reduced form to all of Germany’s approximately 22,000 independent workshops.
“We are proud of our strategic partnership with Bosch Car Service, a professional partner for all things automobile, which we believe demonstrates the reputation that we are gaining as an OEM,” says Laurin Hahn, CEO and co-founder of Sono Motors. ”The Bosch brand represents top quality, and the workshop experts at Bosch Car Service perform their service and repair work according to modern standards. All of this makes Bosch a perfect partner for Sono Motors in order to offer our customers comprehensive, Europe-wide services.”
At the end of July, Sono Motors unveiled the production design of the Sion, which has been in development for years. Production of the solar electric car is scheduled to start in the second half of 2023 at Valmet Automotive in Finland.
