BYD is expanding to Israel
BYD continues its series of market entries with passenger car models outside China. In Israel, the Chinese manufacturer is cooperating with Shlomo Motors for the distribution of its electric cars and will accept orders there from August.
The first two BYD showrooms in Israel are to open in Petach Tikva and Haifa in September, according to the company. The first two locations are to be complemented by a showroom in Jerusalem in October and an operation in Be’er Sheva in December. Both sales and after-sales services are to be handled via the Shlomo locations.
Most recently, BYD had already announced the market launch with passenger car models in Germany and Sweden as well as in the Netherlands. For these three countries as well as for Israel, however, it is not yet known with which models BYD intends to start – and whether they will be the same or different series for each country. The only thing that is clear is that in Israel, according to the announcement, the first ship is due to arrive at the port of Eilat in the third quarter.
The partnership for passenger cars is not the first cooperation between Shlomo Motors and the Chinese company. For more than a decade, Shlomo has been responsible for the distribution of BYD’s electric buses in Israel.
