Global recall issued for the Mercedes EQE
Mercedes-Benz is recalling 341 units of the electric model EQE worldwide due to steering problems, 130 of them in Germany. Possible damage to steering components during the assembly process could lead to a failure of the steering power assistance and unintended steering movements.
Depending on the extent of the damage, the steering power assistance could fail without prior notice, writes the German publication Auto, Motor und Sport. If, as a consequence, the steering forces increase, it can lead to the EQE not being able to comply with local legal conditions.
The steering system of the affected vehicles is replaced. According to the German regulatory authority KBA, no incidents involving damage to property and/or personal injury are known.
