Onto orders another 600 Peugeot electric cars
The British electric car subscription service Onto is adding 600 more electric cars to its fleet this month. The new additions all come from Peugeot and include 300 each of the e-208 and e-2008.
Both models rely on the familiar electric drive used in Stellantis models: the front wheels are driven by a 100 kW e-motor supplied by Vitesco. A 50 kWh battery (gross) is installed as power storage, of which about 45 kWh can be used. For the e-208, this results in 225 miles of range according to WLTP (362 kilometres); for the e-2008, 214 miles (344 kilometres).
Both the small electric car and the electric SUV model are already familiar to Onto customers: In November 2020, the subscription provider ordered the first e-208s from Peugeot, while the e-2008 was first ordered in May 2021. Now the sister models on the eCMP platform are also part of the fleet – which specifically concerns the DS 3 Crossback E-Tense, Citroën ë-C4 and also the Vauxhall/Opel models Corsa-e and Mokka-e.
Rob Jolly, CEO and Co-founder at Onto, said: “The Peugeot e-208 and e-2008 have both been extremely popular with our customers and consistently booked out since joining the fleet. These new cars will ensure we can keep up with the growing demand as our customer base expands and more people make the switch to electric.”
Most recently, the subscription provider also ordered 600 Fiat 500e. Other vehicles in the all-electric fleet include the Audi e-Tron and Hyundai Kona Electric and over a thousand Renault Zoe. In the future, customers will have access to 700 Fisker Ocean that have been ordered, but production of this vehicle will not start until November this year.
The subscription service offered by Onto currently enjoys more than 6,000 active subscribers. Customers not only have the above listed selection of electric cars to choose from, but are also covered with insurance, servicing, breakdown cover, and free public charging. According to Onto, more than 12,500 chargers across the UK are included in the free public charging offer.
